| I recently was given the privilege and opportunity to read "Michael: Who Would You Leave Behind?"
What a heart wrenching and powerful message it gives out to the youth of America, Every teen, young adult and parent should give this book a read. It could be the first step in saving you or someone you love very much, from a very tragic ending.
This powerful message from two courageous parents is a great tribute to their fine son Michael, whom I had the privelege to know in his short life. Thank you for sharing it with me and my family. Keep the Love Alive, in your hearts, your souls and in the hopes for the youth of America. |

| I'm a junior at Hagerty High School. First, thanks and God bless you for what you are doing. It is one of the best things anyone can do. Your story really hit home today because I lost a cousin to drugs. He was found just a week before Christmas, dead because he chose to shoot heroin. But he had no one to come up to my aunt, red faced. No one was there for him. So many times have I heard an aunt or an uncle say that if they had just gone to see him or dropped him a line... In your pain, I saw reflected my entire family's, especially my aunt's. Your message moved me, and many others from Hagerty, to tears. You're a God send for what you are doing. And from the bottom of my heart, I thank you and I will do my part in passing along your story and message. |

| I have read your book and I see my story being told. I have struggled with drug addiction for 27 yrs and I have fortuanly lived through 3 accidental overdoses. It has put my family, especially wife and children through a living hell. I have also lost my 31 y.o. brother-law 4yrs ago to an accidental overdose. When using any drug as you stated, you never think you could be the one who will have a mishap. I hope children will learn through Michael's message that any drug that is abused can and will lead to pain and heartache. I know your son live's on through your word's. Take one day at time. |

| hi my name is ashley and i am a junior at riverton highschool. I just want to let you know how sorry i am about your loss. I cant imagine. I dont nor ever have abused drugs...i dont even drink...but my friends do and they seem to think they are invinsible. I dont know if your message got through to them...but it did to me. in the way that i need to guide them instead of ignore it because its "there problem" my best friend chad was our highschools all star basketball player-his dad a lawyer and his mom a banker...i loved him with everything...and little did i know he was not only smoking tons of pot...but also abusing perscription drugs. I knew about this for a while. he had been to rehab once and it did nothing. he claims that he just doesnt care...about anything. and what worries me is that he is completley serious when he says this. After a long year of drama and trying to change his perspective...his parents finally put him in a good rehab center in jacksonville florida. he has 4 to 6 monthes and i pray that it helps. he didnt get to hear michaels message...but i think if he did...it might have made a difference. i will be sharing it with him when i talk to him. thank you so much for ur lifechanging presentaion. i admire you guys Love-ashley |

| You recently visited my middle school, Ammons Middle in Miami, and I wanted to let you know that your presentation touched me. I have known the dangers of drugs for a long time, but having a face and personal experience put to that message made me realize how one wrong choice can cause grief and devastation. You are great people in showing kids the effects of drugs, and I am deeply honored that you have visited my school. I learned some things I did not previously know, but now I am well aware and am confident in my ability to stand up to peer pressure. I know it won't be easy, but I promise that I will never do drugs and I promise to never let my family go through what you have gone through. Keep doing what you're doing, you're very special people who deserve great respect and I truly admire you're efforts. --Nick M. --Ammons Middle --Miami,FL |

| Dear Mr. & Mrs. Michael’s Parents,
Thank you so much for sharing your story here with us at Herbert A, Ammons Middle School. It was a pleasure to have you. I love you program, it helps educated the young minds in the world about drugs abuse and drug safety and how in the blink of an eye a disaster can happen. It took a lot a courage to share you story and I thank you for that. You testimony has touch many hearts and has helped many make the right decision when facing drugs, peer presser and any other incident. Again I thank you, you testimony has inspired me to help in my community and educated the world about what’s really going on in life. Thank you.
I wrote you a poem relating to you story:
Everybody Has A Story To Tell
Everybody Has A Story To Tell
About How They Sat & Burnt In Hell
How They Laughed Then Cried
Because Stretched Out On The Bed…Their Son Died
Cousin & “Friends” To Scared To Tell
The Story Of How Their Friend Was Put Through Hell
12 Weeks Later Not A Sound Not A Squeak
To Quite For A Mouse To Roam Freely In The House
Then The Decision Was Made
Mother & Father Prayed
At The Funeral Many Cried
Because Their Loved One Had Died
Then Light “Shinned” Because We Knew The Cause Of This Terrible Flaws
Then We Found A Way To Educate You
And Tell You The Story That You Hear Today
So Take These Words
Be Bold, Strong And True
Don’t Ever Let Drugs Hurt You

| I want to thank the both of you for sharing the story of you loss. I gained so much from your presentation, there were so many things I was not aware of. For example, before the presentation I hadn't any clue what Ecstasy looked like, and after the images were presented, I realized that it wasn't even 3 weeks ago that I had seen one of those pills on the sidewalk. It's really scary to realize that just ONE bad choice is all it takes to lose everything you have. You two really touched me, you just reiterated that drugs just are not worth it. I put myself in your shoes, and my God, it made me hurt. I don't know if anyone else in that auditorium was affected in the way that I have been, but I just want to thank you both, and let you know that you seriously have made a difference in my life. You have done a wonderful job in spreading Michael's Message. May God be with you~ |

He, too, was a wonderful, vibrant young man, filled with potential, who lost everything because of a bad decision. You know how much we miss him every day. My presentation is called "Not My Child." I have been presenting Steven's story for twelve years now. Like you, I am determined to keep getting the message out to kids so that no other parents will have to be in "the club that nobody wants to join." Bless you in your efforts. | The work you are doing is so important, because teenagers need to be informed that this CLUB designer drug craze is just as dangerous and leads to just as many addiction problems as harder drugs. My boyfriend used GHB & Ecstacy on and off for 7 years, he used it because it made him feel confident and energetic and he felt invincible. He overdosed 7 times and now has substantial mental issues and bipolar disorder and directly related to his drug abuse..social anxiety disorder. All because he tried a drug that all his friends said would not hurt him. He was 25 when he started using GHB and it lead to his use of Ecstacy, Special K, Cocaine anything to feel good again. GHB permanently scarred him for life and the withdrawls from GHB are horrendous. Many times he was close to death and still went back to using GHB. Many of his friends died and or committed suicide, because they could not kick the monster GHB. My heart and prayers goes out to anyone who has lost a loved one or is battling this monster GHB in their own life or their loved ones. The word needs to get out on a NATIONAL level that this drug is a killer and teenagers need to know that just one sip can and will lead to a sad depressing existence and ultimately death. |

Subject: My Story...err...at least a small clippit |
| Your presentation at Florida High was indeed very touching and reminded me why i will never use drugs. I am adopted from Idaho because my mother was a drug addict. she was unreliable, untrustable, and worst of all manipulaive. She would do anything to get money for drugs and in the end she wound up in Jail and is now on probation after 2 years in Rehab. I was in and out of Foster Care multiple times becuase she couldn't stay clean becuause the drugs had a hold on her. there was nothing my older sisters and i could do, but sit and watch as she slowly destroyed herself from the inside out. I am not permitted contact of any sort untill I'm 18 years of age, so I kinda know your loss. I am terribly sorry that you had to live through all that pain of losing your baby, like I lost a mother and a father to drugs and alcohol.
Thank you so much for coming to talk to us at Florida High. |

| 1st off I am so sorry about your loss. 2nd thank you so much for coming to talk at our school. I don't think I have family that dealt with drugs, at least that I know of. But I know someone people that have. In my last school a boy was removed from school in an Ambulance because he was so intoxicated, that a lot of people noticed. Your message today was so helpful to a lot of teen I'm sure. You really had a lot of us in tears. We know you can't get your son back, but thanks so much for letting teens be aware and maybe get help before it's to late. |

Subject: Your Presentation at Florida High in Tallhassee, F |
| Your presentation was very moving and inspiring. Although I never have had problems with any types of drugs...and never will I'm sure you got the message through to the kids who are struggling with drug habits or their loved ones. I am so sorry about what happened to your son and it just goes to show how irresponsible our generation can be today. It is very easy to subside to peer pressure. But I just came through to let you know I thought the presentation was amazing and I admire yall for doing what you do! It takes alot of strength, confidence, and courage to share your story with other children! Keep doing it big and I hope for a successful journey spreading the word! God Bless!

| I know you probably recieve unbarable amounts of "I'm sorry" and other forms of comfort, and although i did not know the family personally, I have truly been personally affected. This morning i visualized one of the most graphic and gory images in my head. I could never imagine the pain that must have filled that house. I am amazed that the two of you have the courage to speak of the incident, and I want to thank you for it. Not many people can speak of their losses let alone make it public for people to learn from it. What you two do is one of the bravest things I have ever seen and I well respect it. I have never touched a drug, cigarette, or whatever in my life and had always vowed I never would, but even if I am offered, I will have your son in my thoughts, and think I too am an AB student, who has a bright future. I hope that everyone at my school truly saw what can happen. I hope they realize they aren't invincible just because it was one time or "only pot" , which i sadly hear far too often. I do intend on passing on your story to my friends in college who say it is "only pot". I have always believed myself that it doesn't stop there and I hope Michael helps them too. Thank you for having the courage to speak today.

Subject: Please tell them about inhalants |
| I'm a freshman at Interlachen High School. You guys spoke there about two weeks ago. When I was in middle school I was a daily user of inhalents. After around six months of huffing I got caught with a can of computer duster at school and was arrested for that and related charges. The reason I'm telling you all of this is because I would greatly apprieciate it if you would tell the youth that you speak to that inhalents DO NOT give you a high, they kill your brain cells. While doing these inhalents you can actually hear your brain cells bursting. Most people mistake this for a halutionation but it is very real. Most kids don't realize what they are doing to themselves and that is why I ask you to PLEASE inform these kids of the danger that they are putting themselves in. Thank you guys for all that you do |

Subject: Mike was a friend |
| I just wanted to write in and say Mike was a good friend of mine, and an awesome, caring, loving person to know. My family and I lived behind Mike and his family for a few years and his death was more then just a shock to us, it was a complete devistation, and a big wake up call. Unfortunatly we lost Mike, but it helped my mother to help save my life. My mother always said that Mike was a good kid and how she liked him. And after his death she said,"Drugs kill good kids too, not just bad people". He is one person who will always remain in hearts and our memory forever.

Subject: Silver Trail Middle School |
| Dear Mr. and Mrs. Brad Alumbaugh,
I am a student from Silver Trail Middle School, and when you came and talked to us about GHB and Drugs really surprised me. I know you really cared and still care about Michael because if you did not, you would not have done the whole speech. Or even go to different schools all across Florida. With you going and talking to kids about what can happen to them from the child's parents really makes it seem very serious and life threatening which it is. It is great that you put up an organization on how you lost your son and about drugs and what they can do to you is very good. It is good because it will change kids' interest in drugs and show them that drugs are horrible for you. I am sorry about your son, Michael. I hope your lives will be filled with joy but at the same time remembering how much joy you gave to Michael.
Sincerely,
David |

Subject: Your presentation in Robinson, Illinois |
| I am a junior at Robinson High School In Robinson Ill. I am a 16 year old female and your presentation at my school changed my
feelings on the world today. First off, I would like to say that I am ever so
sorry for your loss. I am glad to have had the privelage o hear you two
wonderful people speak. As I sat in class and read your book tears formed in my
eyes and I thought deeply about what was said. I, Danae Pritts have never
personally been around or tried any type of drug, in which i never entend to,
unless of course something happens as your son's inncodent. I honestly can say
I do know people who do drugs at my school and talk openly about doing them in
class. As one of the quotes said in your book "I hate how people come to school
on Monday's and tell everyone about how they got drunk or stoned over the
weekend." I honestly hate when people come to school and do this it really
bothers me to hear how many people in our school don't care about themselves. I
also strongly agree with the statement repeatedly said in your presentation
"SILENCE KILLS." My dad is by far my best friend and i wouldn't trade him for
anything in the world. I tell my dad everything that goes on in our school. Not
a day goes by that I don't tell my dad that I love him and I don't know what I
would do without him. I strongly agree that silence kill and can kill fast. To
let you know a little about myself, like i said i have never tried nor plan on
tryig any type of drug. My biological mother was put in prison several years
ago for something other than drugs, got released and put back in for making,
transporting, and seling or dealing methanphetamine. I have never met her nor
do I plan on it anytime soon. I will never follow in this woman's footsteps.
Enough about me here is a little about our school... we have random drug
screenings for students that are involved in some type of athletic through the
school. But I don't think it is fair for ONLY student atheletes to be tested I
believe that the whole sch
should be randomly tested. It's not fair for those of us not doing drugs to be
tested and those of us who are to get away with it. As I finished your book, I
thought about how important my life truly is not only to me and my family but
also to the community. I love life and every aspect of it and if I were that
friend of michael's who gave him that GHB I wouldn't be able to live life
knowing I was the one who killed my best friend by not saying a word. You two
lovely people have inspired me to teach my siblings and someday my children
about your son's story. I know as my siblings and children grow they will most
probably be offered some type of drug. In the time they will grow old there
will be 100% worse drugs out there than there are now. My family and I talk
almost everynight about your wonderful presentation and how easily a life can
be taken away. I honestly believe you have changed many minds incuding mine. I
greatly appreciate your time and dedication. Thanks you for changing my views
on the world of Drugs.
